From July 17-19, the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya will host the GRAVITEO Urban Sports Festival, an event featuring climbing, skateboarding, and scooter freestyle, among other disciplines, to transform the venue.

The Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya is preparing for a significant transformation with the upcoming GRAVITEO Urban Sports Festival, scheduled from July 17-19. This event aims to broaden the venue's offerings beyond motorsport, incorporating sports such as climbing, skateboarding, scooter freestyle, and roller freestyle, alongside European and national competitions and areas for attendees to practice.
Ignasi Armengol, CEO of Fira Circuit, the company managing the Circuit, explains that this initiative is part of a planned strategy to make the venue a space "more open, diverse, and connected with society." The goal is to integrate new disciplines, formats, and audiences, solidifying a strategic diversification plan that already included organizing an urban sports festival.
The commitment to these urban sports is seen as a "natural" step towards making the Circuit a multipurpose infrastructure. According to Armengol, this will expand the audience base, enrich the venue's activities, and project a "more dynamic and inclusive" image, positioning it as a space capable of hosting both major motorsport events and "new sporting and cultural trends."
The festival is designed as an "integral experience" combining high-performance competition, exhibitions, and participatory activities. It will also include a "professional" component with a B2B space, featuring a congress, round tables, and product presentations, supported by the Urban Sport Congress.
The inaugural edition of GRAVITEO will be free of charge, a key decision to raise awareness and facilitate access for families and citizens. Armengol emphasizes that the project has "a commitment to continuity" and aims to establish the Circuit as a European hub for urban sports, leveraging its experience and facilities to attract international events.
Armengol concludes that the festival "perfectly symbolizes the transformation moment" the Circuit is undergoing, focusing on diversification and innovation while retaining its core identity, with the aim of generating economic, social, and cultural impact in the region.
