Data presented to the Local Security Board indicates that, despite a 21% drop in petty theft, other types of crime have seen growth. Forced entry robberies inside vehicles have risen by 22%, a trend police forces attribute to criminals targeting poorly lit areas.
Regarding violent robberies, the report notes a slight overall decline, although street assaults have increased by 3.2% and home robberies by 7.5%. Mobile phones remain the most stolen item, accounting for 40% of the total, followed by jewelry and wallets.
Furthermore, drug trafficking has recorded a 6.4% increase. During this period, authorities have dismantled 74 points of sale and closed 22 drug dens, mainly in the Ciutat Vella district, seizing various narcotic substances.
