Farmers and ranchers, led by the Gremi de la Pagesia, parked dozens of tractors on Barcelona's Gran Via on February 6, intending to stay overnight and bring their demands closer to the public.

The protesters positioned their vehicles between Rambla Catalunya and Plaça Universitat, directly in front of the headquarters of the Department of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Food. This action commemorates the massive protest two years ago and denounces the administration's failure to fulfill its commitments.

"If you come with promises, there is no need for you to come, because you will save yourselves a shouting down."

Jordi Ginabreda · Spokesperson for the Gremi de la Pagesia
The spokesperson, Jordi Ginabreda, was very clear in demanding that Minister Òscar Ordeig 'get his act together' and not only know the demands, but solve them. Key demands include rejecting the agreement between the European Union and Mercosur, advancing sanitary protocols, and recalculating hydrocarbon taxes.
The farmers intend to organize an informative 'major festival' during their stay, featuring talks, horticulture workshops, rice dishes, and concerts. Ginabreda emphasized that the goal is to educate the citizens of Barcelona that the farming sector is 'your pantry'.
For his part, Minister Òscar Ordeig, speaking to Catalunya Ràdio, guaranteed that there would be 'results,' but asked for patience and unity, noting that changes would not happen 'in three days.' He added that it is necessary to go 'with concrete proposals' both internally and to Brussels.
