A fire broke out on the night of April 11, 2026, in an apartment in the Santa Eulàlia neighborhood of L'Hospitalet de Llobregat, mobilizing numerous emergency services and resulting in five people receiving medical attention.

The blaze started shortly before midnight, at 23:57 hours, on a mezzanine floor at number 90 of Independencia Street. At the time of the incident, the affected dwelling was empty, thus preventing direct personal injuries at the fire's origin.
The emergency response was swift and robust, with the deployment of nine units from the Bombers de la Generalitat (Catalan Fire Department). Additionally, personnel from the Guàrdia Urbana (Local Police), the Mossos d'Esquadra (Catalan Police), and the Sistema d'Emergències Mèdiques (SEM) (Medical Emergency System) intervened to coordinate safety and assistance efforts.
As a precautionary measure, residents of the building were confined to their homes, while other neighbors were evacuated. The latter could not return to their apartments until 3:00 AM, once the situation was under control and safety was ensured.
The SEM attended to a total of five people. Four of them received assistance at the scene, while a fifth person was transferred to a hospital for a more thorough evaluation. Firefighters carried out ventilation tasks in the common areas of the staircase to clear accumulated smoke. Extinction and review operations concluded at 05:20 hours.
