The incident began with a gas leak at midday, which led to a large flame at 10:11 PM on Wednesday. The leak originated from a broken pipe due to accessibility works being carried out at the L5 and L1 metro station.
According to the latest report, there are two seriously injured and two less seriously injured individuals who were transferred to Vall d’Hebron hospital. Additionally, one less seriously injured and three minor injuries were treated at Clínic hospital.
Some of the injured are reportedly operators who were working to control the blast at the moment it ignited, according to information from channel 324.
Barcelona's Fire Department has been working for hours to contain the flame and continues their efforts. The Guàrdia Urbana (City Police) has cordoned off the area and closed traffic on Sants street and other nearby roads.
On Thursday morning, the flame was still burning. Emergency services are continuing to douse the area, and the police maintain control of the perimeter.
