The Barcelona City Council has approved the public exhibition of a plan to convert a former industrial area in the Gràcia neighborhood into a new residential environment with community spaces and protected housing.

This initiative seeks to revitalize an area of 6,800 square meters, located between Pau Clarís, Reina Elionor, Jacint Verdaguer, and Cellers streets. The proposal stipulates that half of this area will be allocated to public spaces, while the remainder will be reserved for residential use.

Housing, ground-floor shops, squares, and gardens can be built there.

The project, driven by private initiative, will include the construction of new homes, one-third of which will be social housing. Furthermore, a reorganization of the road network is planned to improve internal connectivity within the area and its integration with the existing urban environment.
This transformation also opens the door to the incorporation of service facilities for the neighborhood, a relevant aspect given the proximity to educational centers such as the Teresa Claramunt school and the Pau Vila institute. The urban changes will also benefit the surroundings of the former Sallarès i Deu warehouses, which will house the Advanced Training Center for Digital Transition and the Hospitality School.
