The work, titled Passeig de Gràcia, història d'una família, delves into the origins of one of Barcelona's most emblematic avenues. Through the stories of a noble, a bourgeois, and a working-class lineage, the book offers a comprehensive view of Barcelona society of the era.
“"When we think of Passeig de Gràcia in 1900, we remember modernism and the great bourgeois families. But it was necessary to talk about the working class of the promenade, who are the domestic workers, so essential to understanding how these modernist houses functioned."
Beyond relationships of love, fame, envy, and ambition, the novel portrays the evolution of Passeig de Gràcia from when it hosted an amusement park to becoming the setting for local aristocracy's mansions and the heart of Catalan bourgeoisie.
“"It is a historical reconstruction, a game of mirrors, where I use real historical sources, some frictioned, others straight from the archive, to tell a sentimental story of one of Europe's most important avenues."
The book has been recognized with the Santa Eulàlia Novel Prize of Barcelona, an award organized by Comanegra and Àfora Focus Edicions, endowed with 25,000 euros. This prize is considered the most generously funded published by an independent publisher, aiming to promote the best Catalan literature focused on Barcelona.
