The new entity, owned 50.1% by Renfe and 49.9% by the Generalitat, will begin operating commuter and regional services starting in 2027. The Minister of Territory, Sílvia Paneque, will serve as president, while the former general director of the TMB metro network, Òscar Playà, has been appointed CEO.
“"It is not a name change, it is a paradigm shift."
The formal constitution before a notary is scheduled for this week, at which point the statutes and the economic plan will be made public. The board of directors will include figures such as former ERC deputy Marc Sanglas and the commissioner for the Rodalies transfer, Pere Macias, in addition to Renfe representatives like Raquel González.
Regarding governance, strategic decisions, including investments and the appointment of the CEO, will require the support of 3/4 of the board. The first operational challenge for Rodalies de Catalunya will be the transfer of the R1 line, whose inventory process is already “very advanced” according to the Government.
“"We know that Rodalies has to improve a lot. I believe we are not standing idly by and we are working hard, and this is a step to improve this service."
