The first phase of the renovation of Turó de la Peira park, in Barcelona's Nou Barris district, has been completed and is now open to the public.

The renovated area, located on the side facing Passeig de Fabra i Puig, between the Josep Pla Special Education Centre and the Josep Pla Institute, has seen its access points and pathways improved, with renewed stairs and adapted access ramps. This green lung of nearly 8 hectares now features a new, more dynamic children's play area and a sports zone including spaces for volleyball and calisthenics, as well as gymnastics equipment on one of the main routes.
This first phase also includes a new dog recreation area, increased tree planting, and improvements to urban furniture and public lighting. The works, which began in late 2025 with a budget of 4.6 million euros, are part of the Turó de la Peira Neighbourhood Plan and were designed through a participatory process with residents.
The transformation will enhance the relationship between the Josep Pla Institute and the park, allowing park use during break times and the utilization of the institute's sports facilities as an extension of the park outside school hours. Future investment is planned to remodel the institute's courtyard to create a large joint sports zone.
This renovation also aims to improve access to the park from the neighbourhoods of Can Peguera and Horta, and to combat uncivil uses, promoting a more welcoming environment for family activities.
The next phase of actions will include improvements to picnic areas, path signage, and the renaturalization of other park areas. In the medium term, a bar with restrooms is planned for incorporation.

"With this action, we are creating a more accessible, safer park with more opportunities for children, young people, families, and the elderly. But above all, we are strengthening a space that is part of the neighbourhood's daily life and which today gains in quality, uses, and coexistence."

Sara Belbeida · Councillor for Neighbourhood Plan

"This action is added to the various improvements that the Nou Barris government is promoting to advance the transformation of Turó de la Peira. These are not isolated interventions, but a continuous project of renovation of the park and its surroundings, aimed at offering a more accessible neighbourhood, better equipped and with better services for all residents."
