Jaume Alonso-Cuevillas has obtained the required endorsements from Junts party members in Barcelona to participate in the internal primaries, which will select the lead candidate for the 2027 municipal elections.

Following Jordi Martí and Pilar Calvo's successful endorsement drives, Jaume Alonso-Cuevillas has now entered the race. He announced this through an emotional video message shared on social media.
With his candidacy, there are now three confirmed contenders for Junts' primaries in Barcelona. The competition to lead the party's municipal ticket is intensifying ahead of the 2027 elections.
A fourth aspirant, Glòria Freixa, a deputy in the Catalan Parliament, has until Thursday, June 11th, to gather endorsements from at least 20% of Barcelona's party membership. Should she succeed, all four candidates will be officially proclaimed.
The voting for these internal primaries is scheduled for the weekend of June 20th and 21st, when Junts members in Barcelona will decide who will head their electoral proposal for the upcoming municipal elections.
