The awards, promoted by Feceminte, are celebrating their twenty-sixth edition this year. They are presented annually to companies, entities, projects, initiatives, and individuals who have demonstrated significant contributions to technological, business, or social development in telecommunications and ICT, with a special impact on Catalonia.
The award ceremony, held as part of the World Telecommunication and Information Society Day, took place at the headquarters of the National Commission of Markets and Competition in Barcelona. Fondevila expressed his satisfaction: “This award is a source of happiness and emotion, which further motivates me to continue my scientific research and outreach activities on cables, telecommunications, and broadband”.
The jury recognized Fondevila's extensive career leading the Centre for Cable Studies (CECABLE) and his presidency of the Catalan Society of Communication-Institute of Catalan Studies (SCC-IEC). His academic, journalistic, and research work in telecommunications, digital technologies, and ICT, with current relevance in Catalonia, was also taken into account.
CECABLE is recognized as a Research Group on Innovative Monetization Systems in Journalism and Digital Marketing, with Fondevila as its principal investigator. The entity has organized the annual DMTforum (formerly the Days of Cable and Broadband in Catalonia) since 1996 and participates in international and national research and outreach projects.
