In a joint statement published this Saturday, the entities emphasized that these limitations are not an isolated incident but a growing trend that violates both the right to information and the right to work for professionals in the sector.
The ban on information professionals is “absurd and discriminatory” since, while press access is denied, any member of the public can freely record images of the concert.
The statement also questions the practice of promoters providing pre-produced content to the media instead of allowing free coverage. The organizations defend the public's right to receive plural and independent information, warning that promotional images reduce the diversity of perspectives and impoverish journalistic narratives.
For this reason, the Col·legi de Periodistes, the Sindicat de Periodistes de Catalunya, and the Sindicat de la Imatge have urged media outlets to reject the publication of official, provided content that might replace independently generated information.
