The president of Esquerra Republicana, Oriol Junqueras, announced on Thursday after leaving the Moncloa Palace a new financing model for Catalonia that includes an additional 4.7 billion euros.

The ERC leader made these statements after meeting with the President of the Spanish Government, Pedro Sánchez, at the Palacio de la Moncloa. Junqueras stressed that the pact includes the application of the crucial ordinality principle, which ensures that Catalonia's position in the per capita resource ranking does not worsen after inter-territorial solidarity.

The press conference was held near the Faculty of Statistics at the Complutense University in Madrid and was conducted entirely in Spanish. Junqueras defended the measure as “a good financing model.”
This Friday, the ERC president is scheduled to meet in Barcelona with the President of the Generalitat, Salvador Illa, to formalize and sign the pact. This agreement is part of three-way negotiations between Esquerra Republicana, the Generalitat de Catalunya, and the Central Government.
