As is tradition, the laboratories of IBEC, located at the Barcelona Science Park, have welcomed a new cohort of young individuals interested in science. Through various programs, a total of 23 students have had the opportunity to experience the day-to-day of bioengineering research.
Participation in initiatives such as the Bojos per la Bioingeniería program, Joves i Ciència by the Catalunya La Pedrera Foundation, and Batx2Lab from the Barcelona Science Park, has allowed students to gain insight into the work carried out in nine of the center's laboratories. IBEC researchers have served as tutors, guiding the young interns through their experience.
Within the Batx2Lab program, promoted by Recerca en Societat – RESSÒ, three high school students have explored the inner workings of a research laboratory. Ivette Sellarès Moreno and Aleix Sánchez Giráldez collaborated with Akshayakumar Kompa, from the Biointegrated Materials and Engineering group. Mia Muñoz Rosselló and María Bendinelli Alonso also joined this same group, under the supervision of Ángela María Ramírez Rosales.
Sergio Medina Atoche completed his internship with Carles Verdaguer, from the Spatial Biotechnology group. Meanwhile, Heba Oulad Lahsan Ahsain Senhaji and Valentina Alejandra Medina León joined the Molecular Bionics group led by Giuseppe Battaglia, guided by Gal·la Vinyes i Bassols.
In the Cellular and Molecular Mechanobiology group of Pere Roca-Cusachs, Laia Lacasta Martín and Adam Le Coguic worked with Valeria Venturini. Ruth França Amela, Fatín El Otmani Sabiri, and Natalia Pérez Muñoz collaborated with Yudish Varma.
Through these activities, IBEC reaffirms its commitment to scientific education and supporting new generations interested in bioengineering, nanomedicine, and life sciences. Beyond experimental work, researchers share their daily experiences and professional journeys to guide students' academic and career paths.
