The song "Copeo traïdor", recently released by Marala in collaboration with Queralt Lahoz, is a piece that fuses Majorcan folklore with electronic music. This proposal aims to invite reflection on the traditional dance of "copeo", interpreted by the artists as a sign of lack of consent, although other cultural sources question this obligation.
Based on this perspective, Marala and Lahoz subvert the original dance, transforming it into a piece of protest. The single has been produced by Toni Font and Arnau Giménez, members of the group Zoo, and is accompanied by a music video directed by Jan Marsol, featuring Pere Serra as dancer and Sira Aymerich as choreographer and dancer.
Marala, formed by Selma Bruna, Clara Fiol, and Sandra Monfort, concluded their seven-year career in 2025. The group, which emerged from the Taller de Músics de Barcelona, was characterized by its vocal harmonies and production that combined acoustic and electronic elements, advocating for collective memory and popular culture from a feminist perspective.
Throughout their career, Marala released the album 'A trenc d'alba' (2020) and 'Jota de morir' (2023), in addition to singles such as "Rosa i espina" or "El desich". They also collaborated with artists like Fermin Muguruza or Zoo.
For her part, Queralt Lahoz, a singer from Santa Coloma de Gramenet, is known for fusing flamenco, hip-hop, soul, and Latin rhythms with a roots-based foundation. She gained recognition with the EP '1917' (2019) and the album 'Pureza' (2021).
