This measure is part of a redundancy plan that, according to the company, seeks to strengthen its position in a rapidly transforming audiovisual sector. The agreement was finalized with the worker representatives of Grup Mediapro SLU.
The reduction in the number of affected individuals, compared to the initial proposal of 237, was made possible by the prior departure of over twenty executives and various savings measures implemented by the group. The employment regulation file (ERO) impacts Mediapro SLU, which employs just over 1,000 workers across ten centers throughout Spain.
This decision follows the company's consolidated net losses of 79 million euros and an 11% decrease in revenue, totaling 1,096 million, during the 2024 fiscal year. Furthermore, the loss of its main contract with the Spanish football league, which was not renewed for the 2028-29 season, contributed to this situation.
Previously, on April 21, approximately 150 employees of the audiovisual group protested against the ERO by blocking Diagonal Avenue in Barcelona, in front of the company's headquarters. Demonstrators expressed their rejection with banners, whistles, and a siren, blocking both directions of the avenue.
