Consellers of the Generalitat and councillors of the Barcelona City Council gathered in Plaça Sant Jaume at noon to pay tribute to the 39 fatalities resulting from the railway accident in Adamuz (Córdoba).
The ceremony, held in the rain, was attended by the interim President of the Govern, Albert Dalmau, and the Mayor of Barcelona, Jaume Collboni, along with other institutional representatives.
“"From the Govern, we extend our most sincere condolences for this tragic accident and offer all our support, if necessary, to the Junta de Andalucía and the Government of Spain."
Separately, the President of the Parliament, Josep Rull, called for another minute of silence in front of the Chamber with parliamentary groups, who suspended their regular press conferences.
The disaster, which occurred on Sunday in Adamuz following the derailment of an Iryo train, has resulted in at least 39 deaths and 152 injuries, including 5 critically injured.
