Catalonia, with its rich diversity of landscapes and architecture, has historically been a favored setting for numerous national and international film and television productions. While iconic locations like Girona's Barri Vell or coastal towns are often highlighted, municipalities such as Mollet del Vallès (Vallès Oriental) have also found their place on the big screen.
A particularly notable area in Mollet del Vallès is the Gallecs Natural Interest Space. This 734-hectare green lung, located a few kilometers from Barcelona, not only preserves traditional agriculture and lush Mediterranean forests but has also served as a film set.
This area hosted part of the filming for the movie 'La Jauría', directed by Carlos Martín Ferrera. The surroundings of the Sant Valerià path, near the Torre d'en Malla, were used for close-up and night shots, leveraging the natural environment as a discreet backdrop. Gallecs' proximity facilitated production logistics.
Furthermore, 'La Plaga' by Neus Ballús, a feature film blending documentary and fiction, was entirely shot in the Gallecs natural space and other Mollet locations. This film has garnered significant recognition, including four Gaudí Awards.
The connection of Neus Ballús, a director, screenwriter, and editor from Mollet, with Gallecs is no coincidence. Aware of the municipality's potential, Ballús is also a co-founder of the independent production company El Kinògraf, based in Barcelona. This company has frequently used the streets and neighborhoods of Mollet del Vallès for its projects, mostly documentaries featuring real people.
