The Montbau Festival 2026 will run this year from Friday, September 25th to Sunday, October 4th. The celebration will feature highlights such as the traditional popular paella, musical performances, a 'correfoc' (fire run), 'havaneres' (sea shanties) with mulled rum, and a closing fireworks display. Additionally, pre-festival events are organized, including the Montbau Popular Race on Sunday, September 20th.
Due to restrictions in Collserola, the Sant Cebrià i Santa Justina gathering cannot be held this year. Most activities will be concentrated in the streets, squares, and facilities of the Horta-Guinardó neighborhood.
The program includes dozens of proposals for all audiences. Notably, the 47th Art Montbau Exhibition opens on Friday, September 25th, at the parish center and can be visited until September 30th. The festival's opening speech will be given by the editorial team of the magazine Ressò de Montbau, followed by a children's and adult 'correfoc'.
During the weekend of September 26th and 27th, there will be concerts by Rock pels Xuklis, family activities like an escape box, and a concert by the Montbau Big Band. On Sunday the 27th, a large popular paella is scheduled with resident DJ Robert, and a Bollywood demonstration.
The following week includes open workshops for the public, a screening of the film Bohemian Rhapsody, a snack for the elderly with dancing, and the mass for Sant Jeroni, the patron saint of Montbau, with the Coral Sant Jeroni.
The first weekend of October will kick off with concerts by the Banda Municipal de Barcelona and Jazz on Friday, October 2nd. Saturday, October 3rd, will feature inflatables, games, a lace-making gathering, a children's show, a popular 'botifarrada' (sausage feast), and a performance by the group The Dominics.
The festival's closing on Sunday, October 4th, will include a morning of 'entremesos' (traditional street performances), giant puppet dances, 'falcons' (human towers) performance, a 'castells' (human towers) workshop, and 'sardanes' (traditional Catalan circle dance). The day will conclude with 'havaneres', mulled rum, and a fireworks display.
