Rodalies de Catalunya commuter train lines R4 and R1 have experienced delays of up to half an hour due to an infrastructure issue between the Barcelona Sants and L'Hospitalet de Llobregat stations. These delays have accumulated since early morning, particularly affecting R1 users (up to 25 minutes) and R4 users (up to 30 minutes).
On the A-2 highway, near Lleida, one lane in the direction of Barcelona was closed for nearly an hour following an accident involving a truck carrying pigs. Traffic was diverted via exit 470, Els Alamús. Around 8:30 AM, one lane was reopened, though traffic remains affected. The Generalitat Firefighters responded with three units to secure the animals, awaiting a veterinarian from the transport company. The vehicle's driver was unharmed.
These mobility disruptions occur amidst high temperatures; although the most intense heatwave has passed, thermometers are still around 35 degrees Celsius in various Catalan regions, with Ponent expected to reach 38 degrees over the weekend. Forecasts indicate a slight temperature decrease, but with predominantly sunny weather.
Additionally, attention remains on a fire that started midday yesterday in Tamarit de la Llitera, in the Franja de Ponent region, which has already affected approximately 1,000 hectares. Three villages were preemptively evacuated (Alins, Sanui, and Calassanç), and residents of Fonts were asked to shelter indoors. The firefighting efforts involve the Generalitat Firefighters, resources from the Ministry for Ecological Transition, and the UME (Military Emergencies Unit).
