The extension of the V5 bus route to Marina del Prat Vermell has led to the closure of two stops in the Marina de Port neighborhood, sparking strong opposition from residents.

This modification, affecting stops on Mare de Déu de Port street and Cisell street, has angered the local neighborhood association. Residents claim they were not consulted on the decision to establish the new bus route.
According to the neighborhood group, the decision was communicated without any opportunity for debate. The eliminated stops provided direct service to important facilities such as schools, an occupational center, a nursery, a socio-health center, and the football field, all considered essential for the community.

"Why did they do this a year ago? To remove it now?"

the neighborhood association president
Residents of Marina de Port recall that the V5 was the only bus that directly connected the neighborhood with other areas of Barcelona. While Zona Franca promenade already has other lines and a metro, the older part of the neighborhood is now left with virtually no transport alternatives. Furthermore, they warn that the new route will force them to walk through poorly lit streets.
The neighborhood association also questions the investments made a year ago to install a bus access platform at one of the now-removed stops. Consequently, they have announced the launch of a signature collection campaign and public awareness effort, as they believe many residents are still unaware of the changes.

"It's the same whether it goes in a straight line or comes back through here. If they do that, everyone will be happy."

the association's secretary
TMB, for its part, argues that the new route is not as displaced as residents perceive and that users can access stops from the Zona Franca promenade. TMB acknowledges peak hour pressure and hopes that increased vehicle frequency will improve these situations.
