Doctors in Catalonia are called to a new general strike this Monday, April 27, to demand their own collective agreement that would end 24-hour shifts, among other demands.

The union Metges de Catalunya has called for mobilization, denouncing the Department of Health's lack of willingness to negotiate with the sector's majority representation. This marks the tenth strike day for medical professionals in the Catalan health system since last October and coincides with a four-day strike called at the national level.
In Barcelona, the mobilization will be visible with a demonstration starting at 10:30 AM from Hospital de Sant Pau and culminating at the Sagrada Família. There, doctors will carry out a symbolic action, constructing a mosaic mural with a protest message. Previously, they will make stops at various healthcare centers in the Horta-Guinardó and Eixample districts, including Fundació Puigvert, Hospital Dos de Maig, and CAP Sagrada Família.
The Department of Business and Labor has established minimum services for the strike day. Urgent care at CUAP, PAC, and PADES will operate with 25% of the staff. Other non-urgent services will operate under the same regime as a public holiday. Emergencies, inpatient care, special units such as ICUs, radiotherapy and chemotherapy treatments, and unavoidable surgical activity will maintain normal operations.

"Rapid and urgent measures are needed to end healthcare pressure. We hope the protests end as soon as possible for everyone's benefit."
