Engineer Òscar Playà has been appointed director of Rodalies by the Departament de Territori, combining this role with the CEO position of the new State-Generalitat mixed company managing the service transfer.

The appointment of engineer Òscar Playà as the new director of Rodalies was formalized this Monday by the Departament de Territori of the Generalitat, under an agreement with the Ministry of Transport and ERC. This decision follows the dismissal of the previous director, Josep Enric Garcia Alemany, due to the mobility crisis caused by the Gelida accident on January 20.

"to be able to apply a new governance collaboratively with Renfe workers in Catalonia"

Playà, an executive with over twenty years of experience in railway mobility management, had served since 2021 as general director of Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona (TMB) and director of the Metro de Barcelona. His career includes positions at Ferrocarril Metropolità de Barcelona and the Autoritat del Transport Metropolità (ATM), where he managed T-mobilitat.
When he was appointed to the mixed company in mid-January, the department led by Minister Sílvia Paneque highlighted his leadership capacity in “complex organizations” and his profile as a “specialist in business strategy, management structures, and digital and cultural transformation”.
