The Parc de Joan Reventós, located in the Sarrià neighborhood, has reopened its access via Sol i Padrís street. Additionally, the Nou Barris district has lifted the prohibition in two other areas: the Campillo de la Virgen, in Torre Baró, and the Parc de l’Aqüeducte in Ciutat Meridiana. These locations are highly valued by residents for sports, walks, and as children's play areas.
The reopening of these parks is accompanied by prevention protocols. Users must disinfect their footwear using special mats before entering the premises. These mats, reminiscent of measures implemented during the COVID-19 pandemic, are replaced daily to ensure their effectiveness.
“"I'm very happy because I come every day. It's a flat place where you can walk and exercise. The rest of the neighborhood has slopes, and it's difficult for older people."
The decision to close these spaces in March generated complaints among residents, who felt that the measure affected their quality of life and social interaction. The councilor for Sarrià – Sant Gervasi, Maria Eugènia Gay, explained at the time that it was a decree from the Generalitat de Catalunya to prevent the spread of swine fever, a very serious disease. However, she assured that measures would be re-evaluated to reconcile citizen needs with prevention.
Despite the reopening of these three parks, other spaces such as Castell de l’Oreneta and Font del Racó remain closed to the public. Access hours for the reopened parks will be as usual, maintaining disinfection measures at both entry and exit points.
