After ten years at the helm of English football, Pep Guardiola is taking a break and was seen enjoying the Primavera Sound festival in Barcelona, accompanied by his daughter Maria Guardiola. The young woman shared a photo on social media showing them together in the crowd for The Cure's concert, one of the festival's most anticipated acts. The festival itself highlighted the coach's presence, even sharing a brief interview where Guardiola expressed his admiration for the performance: "The concert impressed me, and above all, the voice, the duration, and the singer's energy because he's not a kid anymore." He described the experience as "awesome" to share with family.
In the same interview, Guardiola discussed his musical tastes and his relationship with artists like Noel Gallagher, former member of Oasis. The coach explained that Gallagher and his brother are "big City fans" and that it was a "privilege" for him to be accompanied by Gallagher at his farewell from the English club. He also mentioned his fondness for the music of the band Mishima, with whom he hopes to reconnect at future editions of the festival.
The coach took the opportunity to defend the fundamental role of culture in society. "This is culture; through books and music, we learn who we are, we learn about others, and we understand that we are all the same," he stated. Guardiola criticized the lack of social mechanisms to defend against the "outrageous things" happening in the world, asserting that "only culture will save us."
With a vindictive yet peaceful discourse, Pep Guardiola called for the denunciation of global injustices. "We are all parents and we want a better world for our children," he declared, lamenting that conflicts have not yet been avoided. "If at this point we still cannot prevent it, it means we are doing something wrong," he concluded.
