The Barcelona City Police and Mossos d'Esquadra launched a joint operation this Wednesday morning to evict two settlements located near the Pont del Treball Digne in the Sant Andreu district.

The operation is taking place on land owned by ADIF. Local authorities stated that the eviction follows a Barcelona Fire Department report concluding there is an imminent and severe risk to those living in the settlements.

"There is a very serious and imminent risk to the people living in the settlement and, therefore, it is necessary to act urgently."
