After securing their promotion to Primera RFEF with a victory against Reus, Unió Esportiva Sant Andreu (UESA) is now focusing on ensuring their continued presence at their municipal stadium, Narcís Sala. This depends on the installation of natural grass and 600 lux lighting, as required by league regulations.
Several political groups, including Barcelona en Comú, Junts per Barcelona, ERC, and the PP, have expressed their concern and demanded swift action from the city council. These parties emphasize the importance of maintaining the team's connection to its stadium and the Sant Andreu neighborhood.
“"The municipal government "is late and doing poorly," as UESA was close to promotion last year, but still lacks natural grass. They have had a year to install it, but the 'government of nothing' has not yet addressed the situation despite the demand."
The Barcelona en Comú group has submitted a motion requesting, in addition to natural grass (preferably hybrid for more uses), a second field for youth football, the redevelopment of Santa Coloma street, improved accessibility, additional restrooms, a video scoreboard, and guaranteed lighting as required by the Royal Spanish Football Federation.
Meanwhile, a councilor from Junts has urged the mayor to begin the works urgently, highlighting the political commitment and necessary budget allocation. He noted that Sant Andreu is a centenary entity deeply rooted in the territory, crucial for social cohesion and sports promotion in the city.
Last year, the City Council faced a similar situation with the promotion of Club Esportiu Europa, which had to relocate to Can Dragó due to the technical complexity and cost of installing natural grass at Nou Sardenya. However, in the case of Narcís Sala, these technical issues do not exist, as the stadium had natural grass until 2005.
