The railway company counted a total of 970 vandalism acts. To combat this issue, Renfe has introduced a new cleaning product that has reduced the time needed to remove graffiti from one hour to approximately 15 minutes, thereby increasing the volume of cleaned surfaces.
For vandalism prevention, Renfe has enhanced surveillance in the most sensitive areas, such as Montcada-Bifurcació and Estació de França stations, using drones and canine units.
Montcada-Bifurcació station is the most affected, with 31 incidents recorded since the beginning of the year, followed by Estació de França (23), Cornellà (22), Granollers Centre (22), and Sant Vicenç de Calders (21).
These acts of vandalism lead to the immobilization of an average of two trains daily, either because graffiti obstructs the driver's vision or due to the need to activate reserve trains or convert double-unit trains into single ones. Consequently, 1.4 million passengers were affected by delays, capacity reductions, or schedule modifications during 2025.
Cleaning operations are currently concentrated at five stations: Ripoll, Sant Andreu, Estació de França, L'Hospitalet de Llobregat, and Vilanova i la Geltrú. At Ripoll and Estació de França, cleaning is done at platform level, while at the other three, it takes place in areas away from passengers. Renfe plans to establish nine additional cleaning points across the country in the coming months.
