Farmers from Revolta Pagesa decided not to join the demonstration organized by Rodalies users in Barcelona on Saturday, February 7, 2026, citing precautionary measures to avoid safety risks associated with mixing heavy machinery and large crowds.

The spokesperson for the Gremi de la Pagesia, Jordi Ginabreda, explained that while there was a willingness to support the train users' protests, it was deemed that mixing tractors amid so many people could pose an "unnecessary risk."

"From here, a message of solidarity and maximum support for Rodalies users. And we will join on an individual basis."

The approximately fifty farmers who spent the night on the Gran Via planned to lift the protest after lunch. Early in the morning, Barcelona municipal services had already begun removing the large urban garden that had been installed between Balmes street and Plaça Universitat.
Ginabreda noted that Saturday's activities were more focused on Barcelona residents, featuring events like a family gymkhana and support for the farmers' market at Les Germanetes. However, he expressed "disappointment" regarding the lack of involvement from locals during the previous day.

"More than angry, there is a point of tiredness. Of beating cold iron and the administration being so slow in facilitating changes."

The movement maintains its core demands, including the rejection of the Mercosur treaty, the reduction of excessive bureaucracy, and a relaxation of sanitary protocols. Ginabreda acknowledged "contacts" with the Departament d’Agricultura, led by Òscar Ordeig, but regretted that their daily reality has not yet changed significantly.
