The Federation of Colles de Sant Medir will distribute soft and vegan candies during the 2026 festival in la Vila de Gràcia, marking the 75th anniversary of the organization.

This year's edition in Barcelona serves as a pilot test to evaluate environmental impact. By switching to high-quality soft candies, organizers hope to significantly reduce the amount of residue left on the streets after the main event on March 3rd.

"On the occasion of the anniversary, we want to throw better quality candies. It is a pilot test to see if there is a reduction in waste."

Josep Antoni Torralba · President of the Federation of Colles de Sant Medir
The festivities begin this Sunday at Plaça de la Vila with a collective opening speech by the Federation itself. Additionally, the youth section of the Castellers de la Vila de Gràcia will deliver the children's opening proclamation.
However, the Àliga de Gràcia cultural group has declined to participate in the opening ceremony. They cited discomfort over the selection process of the keynote speaker, alleging that Josep Maria Contel was vetoed by the assembly.
