The Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau in Barcelona is commencing the celebration of its 625th anniversary, a milestone highlighting its long history as a healthcare institution and its heritage value.

Founded in 1401 in the Raval neighborhood, this center is recognized as the oldest hospital in Spain. Its modernist complex, designed by Lluís Domènech i Montaner, has been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, adding undeniable cultural and architectural value to its historical significance.
To mark this anniversary, a program of activities has been designed to take place over the coming months. Highlights include an exhibition at the National Library of Catalonia, which will be open in autumn, and various open days. These will allow the public to access historical areas of the institution, including the room where the architect Antoni Gaudí was treated after being hit by a tram.
Beyond the historical retrospective, the hospital also aims to look towards the future. To this end, a forum with experts has been organized to analyze the challenges and prospects of healthcare in the coming years, seeking to envision the center's evolution in the decades ahead.
