The Santa Coloma de Gramenet Local Police have carried out 1,008 interventions related to the prevention and recovery of occupied properties since 2020, according to official data.

Mayor Mireia González emphasized that the city's strategy combines police action with agile legal tools. A key element is the agreement for immediate trials for minor offenses, which enables the eviction of squatted properties within approximately seven days.

"There is no room for impunity in Santa Coloma. We have a prepared and coordinated Local Police force."

The number of operations has seen a significant rise, peaking at 320 interventions in 2024. This increase is linked to the Rapid Intervention and Support Unit (USIR), established in 2020, and new protocols involving the installation of protective metal plates on vacant homes.
