The action, carried out on April 15, 2026, took place at the Vox headquarters, located at Carrer del Camp, 28, in the Sarrià-Sant Gervasi district of Barcelona. This initiative by the SEPC comes after Vox's secretary general, Ignacio Garriga, and the spokesperson in the Parliament, Júlia Calvet, announced their intention to file lawsuits against the union and call for its illegalization.
“"Neither the threats nor the lawsuits from Vox will make us retreat in our struggle for a dignified education in a free land."
The SEPC has justified its action as a response to the strategy of discredit and threats that, according to the union, Vox has directed towards the student organization of the Independentist Left. The union has expressed its concern about the normalization of discourses and practices it describes as fascist throughout the Catalan Countries, and has pointed out that these symptoms are already beginning to be perceived in classrooms.
Furthermore, the SEPC has criticized the lack of an adequate response from educational institutions to curb the proliferation of these behaviors. Despite this, the union has called for hope, stating that more and more students are organizing to face the current situation and that many others understand the need to act, even if they have not yet organized.
Vox's offensive against the SEPC and independentism in classrooms has included, according to the union, the judicial attack with the TSJC ruling against the mural at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) that historically displayed the slogan 'Independence, Socialism and Feminism'.
