According to data from the USPAC union, 28 firearm incidents have been recorded in Catalonia up to June 1st, representing a 45% increase compared to the same period last year. Most of these events have been concentrated in the Catalan capital.
The Mossos d'Esquadra have indicated that most of these murders are related to drug trafficking and organized crime. In the case of the latest incident, which occurred in the Sant Andreu district, initial investigations point to a possible clash between gangs.
The series of incidents has taken place in various parts of the city and its metropolitan area, including neighborhoods such as Sants-Montjuïc, Sant Martí, and Sarrià-Sant Gervasi, as well as nearby municipalities like Badalona and l'Hospitalet de Llobregat.
