The Third Sector Table has called on the Catalan Government to invest 100 million euros in 2026 to provide an emergency response to the rising homelessness crisis in Catalonia.

Social entities argue that the current budget of 30 million euros is insufficient. In Barcelona alone, approximately 2,000 people are sleeping on the streets according to Arrels Fundació. Organizations such as Caritas and Red Cross demand a unified strategy to replace the current fragmented approach.

"The framework has been insufficient and has not met expectations; we have identified failures that should be corrected this 2026."

The sector is also awaiting the approval of a new law in the Catalan Parliament specifically designed to eradicate homelessness. Experts emphasize that without reliable data and mandatory criteria for all municipalities, the situation for those living in inadequate housing will continue to worsen.
