The Parliament of Catalonia has begun processing the transport law for vehicles up to nine seats, with over 120 entities and 21 city councils having requested to appear to influence its drafting.

The Committee in charge of the proposed transport law for vehicles up to nine seats has started its work, with a significant number of requests to participate in the process. This large number of appearances, which include representatives from the taxi sector, VTCs, and various local administrations, suggests a more extended processing period than initially expected.
Among the participants, 26 entities linked to the taxi sector and 15 from the VTC sector, such as Uber, Cabify, and Bolt, stand out. Additionally, 21 city councils and several departments of the Generalitat, as well as the Barcelona Metropolitan Area, have joined the list. There is also representation from the hospitality, tourism, and trade fair sectors, with the presence of Fira de Barcelona and GSMA, organizer of the Mobile World Congress.
The list of attendees is completed by a dozen business associations and corporate representatives, such as Foment, Pimec, and the Barcelona Chamber of Commerce, as well as researchers from five different universities. Civil society is also present through entities representing people with disabilities, the Plataforma per la Llengua, and consumer associations.

"The committee's will is to listen to all stakeholders."

Once the committee is formed and requests are accepted, interventions will be organized by sector. The first session is scheduled for June 9, with the intention of holding a committee meeting every fifteen days. The majority taxi union, Élite Taxi, has suggested prioritizing agents with greater representation and direct impact, proposing that 85 of the 122 entities submit their contributions in writing to avoid unnecessary delays in processing a law they consider urgent.
