The mobilization, which began early in the morning near Alcanar, included a collective breakfast with a popular paella cooked on the highway itself. Demonstrators highlighted their "shared demands," including the defense of education in Catalan, requests for salary improvements, and an increase in resources for public education. They also called for the resignation of the Education Ministers of Catalonia and the Valencian Community, Esther Niubó and Carmen Ortí. The protest took place under the supervision of the Guardia Civil.
From 12:00 PM onwards, educational staff from the Terres de l'Ebre are expected to converge on Tortosa via two protest columns. One will depart from the Escola Cinta Curto, gathering teachers from Baix Ebre, Terra Alta, and Ribera d'Ebre, while the second will start at the Escola Sant Llàtzer in Montsià. Both marches will meet at the plaça del Mercat to begin a demonstration through the city streets.
This protest day is part of a series of ten actions called in Catalonia by the unions USTEC, Professors de Secundària, CGT, and la Intersindical. Today's regional actions are focused on Tarragona and the Terres de l'Ebre. The mobilizations follow Wednesday's sectoral table meeting, which concluded without an agreement but with a commitment to resume negotiations on Thursday and Friday.
