The Teatre Joventut in L'Hospitalet de Llobregat is preparing for a comprehensive renovation. The works, with a budget of 4.5 million euros, have already been tendered and are expected to begin in November.

After temporarily closing in December 2025, the complex dismantling of technical equipment at the Teatre Joventut has been carried out to initiate the renovation works. According to Ariadna Cruz, head of programming, approximately 45 pallets of material have been collected and will be moved to a specialized warehouse in September or October.
In parallel, the Metropolitan Area of Barcelona opened the tender process for the works in May, valued at 4.5 million euros. Currently, the bids are under evaluation and will be awarded soon. The plan is for the work to commence by November at the latest.
Once underway, the works will last approximately 18 months, with completion anticipated in the second quarter of 2028. This renovation aims to fully modernize the facility, improving its accessibility, energy efficiency, user comfort, and technical and safety conditions.
The building, designed by architect Antoni Puig i Gairalt, originally opened its doors in 1931 as a cinema. After several closures and a local demand to convert it into a car park, the space was acquired by the City Council. Following renovations, it reopened in May 1991 as the current Teatre Joventut.
