Project review will last until after summer, potentially forcing a new bidding process for the coastal works.

The Calonge i Sant Antoni Council has announced that coastal protection works in Sant Antoni are on hold following the discovery of technical flaws in the project design.

The Directorate General of the Coast and Sea has ordered a full review of the executive project. This study is expected to be completed after the summer, causing a significant delay to the works originally scheduled for last autumn.

"We regret that the work is at a standstill and we hope that, when it can be resumed, the construction company does not back out."

Authorities will evaluate whether to proceed with the current contractor, Rubau Tarrés, or launch a new tender once the revised economic assessment is ready. Meanwhile, sand reinforcements from Palamós have helped protect the promenade from recent winter storms.
