The Barcelona City Council is moving forward with the renovation of the northern facade of Glòries Square, leading to the imminent demolition of two modernist buildings at 600 and 602 Consell de Cent street.

Built in 1916, these twin properties feature ornate facades with floral motifs and female busts. However, they lack official heritage protection, which has sealed their fate as part of the urban transformation plan to create a 26,400-square-meter park.
Former residents have already been relocated to social housing or compensated. The demolition works, with a budget of 2.3 million euros, are expected to be completed by May, removing architectural obstacles to prioritize the continuity of the new green space.

"It would make sense to preserve them, but it would be difficult to integrate them into the park later."
