Around 35,000 teachers according to police marched through Barcelona this Friday to demand new negotiations with the Government regarding classroom conditions and budget cuts.

The strike saw a 43.77% participation rate according to the Department of Education, though unions like USTEC claim up to 85%. The protest ended by surrounding the Catalan Parliament after filling Lluís Companys boulevard.

"There is no other way than negotiating with the collective. If they don't sit down to talk, we will bring the Government down."
