The tender for the integral renovation of the lighting in several streets of the Torreforta neighborhood has now been made public. The initiative includes the installation of LED technology luminaires, promising a significant reduction in energy consumption.
The works involve the complete replacement of existing luminaires, supports, cabling, and various elements of the control panel. The base budget for this project is 554,369.73 euros, with an estimated execution period of 10 months.
According to the Councilor for Public Space, Guillermo García de Castro, the municipal government is "working intensely to improve public spaces," and views the lighting upgrade as having a "clear impact on the lives of Tarragona's residents".
The renovation efforts will primarily focus on the streets of Riu Garona, Riu Tordera, Prades, Riu Montsant, and Riu Foix, as well as the two adjacent parking areas. These locations currently have lighting systems that are over 40 years old.
This renovation is projected to achieve an annual saving of 45,030 kWh, representing a decrease in energy consumption of 65.41% per year.
This project is supported by the Provincial Council of Tarragona through the ImpulsDipta 2026 Plan, which provides a subsidy of 239,126.12 euros.
