The toy brand Lego recently unveiled an impressive model of the Sagrada Familia, built with 12,000 pieces. Coinciding with Pope Leo XIV's visit to Barcelona, this creation has generated interest, but now Turisme de Barcelona aims to go further.
Through an Instagram post on the official @visitbarcelona page, the tourism entity has issued a challenge to Lego: "Hello, Lego, could you make these iconic Barcelona buildings, too?". The goal is for the company to consider including other "architectural gems" of the city in its offering, taking advantage of Barcelona's celebration of the Year of Architecture.
The proposal, made in a playful tone, includes images generated by artificial intelligence showing what other emblematic Barcelona buildings could look like if constructed with Lego bricks. Among the suggested constructions are the Miró Foundation, the Three Chimneys, the Port Cable Car, the Calatrava Tower, the Mies van der Rohe Pavilion, and the Walden 7 building in Sant Just Desvern.
In addition to buildings, the campaign also suggests the creation of iconic city sculptures, such as Botero's Cat in Rambla del Raval or the sculpture Els Mistos in Vall d'Hebron, thus expanding Barcelona's potential Lego collection.
