A Turkish Airlines aircraft made an emergency landing at Barcelona's El Prat Airport on January 15 following an explosive threat, prompting the activation of security protocols.

The incident occurred after a threat related to the flight was received, forcing the crew to request an unscheduled landing in the Catalan capital. Sources from Aena confirmed to ACN that, due to the alert, established security protocols were immediately activated.

El Prat Airport continues to operate with complete normality despite the activation of emergency protocols for passenger safety.

Security forces quickly moved to the area to carry out the relevant checks inside the aircraft. Despite the alert situation, the general operation of the airport remained unaffected, maintaining normality for all other flights.
The General Directorate of Civil Protection placed the Aerocat plan, the specific protocol for aeronautical emergencies, on alert as a preventive measure while the situation on the Turkish Airlines plane was being verified.
