The fire, which originated in a piece of the tunnel lining, caused smoke to fill the facilities, triggering the FerroCat plan in alert phase. Barcelona Fire Department mobilized 22 units to extinguish the flames and ventilate the area.
The Medical Emergency System (SEM) treated 115 people, mostly for smoke inhalation. Of these, 39 were transferred to various hospitals in the city, although none are in serious condition. The operation involved 19 ambulances to manage the evacuations.
Due to the incident, L1 service was interrupted between Catalunya and Sagrera stations. Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona (TMB) has provided alternative bus services to cover the affected section and reported that normal service is expected to resume this Tuesday.
