The Catalan Government led by Salvador Illa is facing a high-stakes week in Barcelona as it attempts to secure ERC's support for the 2026 budget before Friday.

Lluïsa Moret, a senior official for the PSC, acknowledged the political instability during a press conference this Monday. The main point of contention remains the transfer of income tax (IRPF) management to the Catalan Tax Agency, a demand strongly pushed by Oriol Junqueras.

"We don't know what will happen on Friday, or even what will happen tomorrow; I am talking about today."

Economy Minister Alícia Romero has ruled out withdrawing the budget proposal, warning that delaying the approval until June would jeopardize public spending and financial execution. Meanwhile, President Illa has dismissed the possibility of calling early elections despite the current legislative deadlock.
