The mobilization, under the slogan 'Treatments without censorship: your animal's life is not to be played with,' aims to raise awareness of the veterinary profession's demands regarding current regulatory limitations on clinical practice and access to certain treatments.
The organization points out that increased bureaucracy and restrictions linked to Royal Decree 666/2023 could limit professionals' clinical judgment. This may have repercussions on access to medications, veterinary care costs, and the situation of animal protection organizations.
The call is addressed to both veterinary professionals and animal guardians and protection groups, with the shared goal of advocating for veterinary practices that prioritize animal health and well-being.
The demonstration will take place on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at 11 AM. The route will begin at Plaça de Sant Jaume and conclude at the Parliament of Catalonia, in Parc de la Ciutadella.
The Official College of Veterinarians of Barcelona (COVB) is contributing to the dissemination of the call and encourages its members to participate.
