The Consell de l’Audiovisual de Catalunya (CAC) has sent a letter to Catalunya Ràdio director Jordi Borda, questioning the interview conducted with Luis Rubiales in late 2025.

The interview, broadcast on El matí de Catalunya Ràdio with Ricard Ustrell, featured Luis Rubiales, former president of the RFEF, promoting his book, two years after the scandal of the non-consensual kiss to Jenni Hermoso, judicially classified as sexual assault.

A counterpoint from the presenter was missed regarding some of Luis Rubiales' statements about the sexual assault.

The CAC, which analyzed the conversation following a complaint, acknowledged that follow-up questions were asked about economic management, but felt that the public broadcaster's responsibility was not reinforced when the interviewee minimized the facts judged as a crime.
The CCMA Style Guide stipulates that interviews with the accused or convicted are only justified by an “exceptional document value,” preventing them from becoming “media showcases” that allow the convicted to obtain benefits.
The director of Catalunya Ràdio, Jordi Borda, previously defended the broadcast in Parliament, arguing that the team underwent a “period of reflection” and considered that there was “journalistic and current interest.”
