The judicial decision follows an appeal filed by various entities and the property owner's request to postpone the eviction for an out-of-court solution.

A judge has suspended the eviction of a resident from the Sant Agustí, 14 block in Gràcia, Barcelona, until the Audiència de Barcelona rules on an appeal filed by several organizations.

This suspension comes just days after the property owner, New Amsterdam Developers, requested a three-month postponement to seek an out-of-court solution to the conflict with the residents.
The review appeal, now accepted, was filed before the initial eviction attempt. In her ruling, the judge stated that although the rental contract had expired, the resident was compelled to continue paying rent while the appeal was pending. Therefore, she deemed it "incongruent" to proceed with the eviction at this stage and decided to postpone it until the Provincial Court makes a final decision.
The eviction order for Txema, the affected resident, was originally scheduled for March 25 but could not be carried out due to a gathering of over 500 people who blocked the judicial delegation. Subsequently, the eviction was postponed until April 15, at which point the property owner requested to halt the process.

Suspensions and postponements are not enough; a solution is needed for all residents of the Sant Agustí block and other blocks affected by the speculative practices of the property owner.

The Sindicat de Llogateres and the Sindicat d'Habitatge de Gràcia have reacted to this new judicial decision, emphasizing the need for a definitive solution for all residents impacted by New Amsterdam Developers' practices. The organizations advocate for the renewal of rental contracts at regulated prices and the conversion of "colivings" into standard rental housing.
