The local assembly of Esquerra Republicana de Catalunya in L'Hospitalet de Llobregat has unanimously selected Jaume Graells as its candidate for mayor in the 2027 municipal elections. This marks the second time Graells will lead the republican list, having previously done so in the 2023 elections.
During his presentation, Graells emphasized the need for "radical change" in the city, positioning himself as an alternative to what he described as an "exhausted phase" of socialist governments, which have led the city council for over four decades. He expressed his intention to "lead political change" and warned about the deterioration of neighborhoods and local public services.
“"It is time to close an exhausted chapter and open a new vision for the future."
At the presentation event, Graells was accompanied by the party's general secretary and mayoral candidate for Barcelona, Elisenda Alamany, who also criticized the PSC's "exhausted model." It is worth noting that Graells was a socialist councilor in Mayor Núria Marín's government before leaving the PSC due to his denunciation in the alleged case of subsidy diversion at the Consell Esportiu de L'Hospitalet.
